Layered smoothies have gained all sorts of popularity on Instagram and I decided to hop on board. This layered smoothie includes greens, vegetables, and a thick chia pudding layer. If you’re searching for a beautiful smoothie recipe to put on the ‘gram or get your kids to drink their fruits and vegetables, try making this layered smoothie!
I remember the first time I tried a green smoothie. I mixed spinach with blueberries and strawberries thinking to myself “This is going to taste great” well, to be frank, it came out looking like mud. But, I have to admit it was pretty freakin’ delicious.
In case you want a green smoothie recipe that is well, a little prettier than mud I got chu. This layered smoothie recipe is packed with fruits and vegetables plus a protein-packed layer of chia pudding. Green smoothies in general are my go to because it’s pretty cool to get your vegetable servings in for breakfast, and you actually can’t taste the greens at all (don’t let that green hue fool you).
Smoothies – green smoothies, in particular, is one of those things my friends and family laugh at me for. It’s like the easy target for healthy foodies. I personally believe smoothies are underrated because you can throw whatever you want in it, they are filling, and super easy to make. Not to mention how healthy they really are!
To start, add all the ingredients for the green layer into a blender and blend until smooth. Banana and pineapple mask any trace of spinach flavor!
Next, you’ll want to add fruit slices to the sides of the glass. Strawberries, kiwis, or any other type of “sliceable” fruit work best for this. Then add chia pudding on top. Chia seeds are a great source of vegan protein so it helps add more substance to this smoothie!
Give your blender a quick rinse and add the remaining ingredients for the top layer. Blend well and pour into mason jars.
The fruit and veggie combinations are endless and you can make beautiful color combos to make this drink pop. Whether you’re doing it for the ‘gram, or just love to eat beautiful foods (because who doesn’t?) This recipe is a fun one to play with!

Fruit and Vegetable Layered Smoothie
This refreshing layered smoothie recipe is loaded with fruits, veggies, and chia pudding. Simple ingredients make this protein-packed smoothie a nutritious vegan and gluten-free meal replacement!
For bottom layer:
- 1 banana
- 2 cups spinach
- 1 cup pineapple
- 1/4 cup almond milk
For chia pudding layer:*
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1/4 cup chia seeds
For top layer:
- 1 banana
- 1 cup strawberries
- 1/4 cup ice
- raspberries unsweetened coconut flakes, chia seeds
- fruit that can be sliced thinly for sides strawberries and kiwis work great
- mason jars or glasses
Start by preparing the chia seed pudding. Mix chia seeds and almond milk and refrigerate while making other layers
Blend all ingredients for bottom layer
Pour into jars, filling them about one-third of the way
Slice strawberries and carefully stick them to the sides of the jar
Remove chia pudding from fridge. Should be pudding like consistency. Spoon chia pudding on top of the green smoothie layer
Rinse blender and blend all ingredients for top layer
Pour on top of chia pudding layer
Add desired toppings and enjoy
* Make this ahead of time by mixing almond milk and chia seeds and refrigerate for 3-4 hours or overnight.
