Smoothie Bowls – 8 Different Ways!

Smoothie bowls are the ultimate upgrade to a traditional smoothie. A creamy smoothie that’s so thick you can eat it with a spoon. Top with fresh fruit, granola, or any other healthy toppings for a quick and easy vegan breakfast or snack!

What’s a smoothie bowl?

Smoothie bowls are thick smoothies that can be eaten from a bowl with a spoon!

The key to getting a nice thick smoothie is using fewer liquids and frozen ingredients.

How to make a smoothie bowl

Place all the ingredients in a high power blender and blend until smooth.

Transfer to a bowl and add any toppings you desire.

Smoothie Bowl flavors:

Orange and “Cream” Smoothie Bowl

  • Oranges
  • Vegan vanilla yogurt
  • Frozen banana
  • Frozen cauliflower (It makes the smoothie bowl so smooth!)

Topped with extra orange slices, and bee pollen

Pina Colada Smoothie Bowl

  • Frozen banana
  • Frozen pineapple chunks
  • Coconut
  • Almond milk

Topped with both unsweetened coconut flakes and toasted coconut

Açai Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 frozen açai packet (I used Sambazon brand. Purchased from Target)
  • frozen banana
  • apple

Topped with berries, banana slices, granola, and honey (if not vegan)

Green Mango Smoothie Bowl

  • Frozen banana
  • Spinach
  • Frozen mango
  • Coconut water

Topped with coconut flakes and chia seeds

Cherry Almond Smoothie Bowl

  • Frozen banana
  • Frozen cherries
  • Almond milk
  • Almonds

Topped with frozen cherries, chocolate chunks, and almonds

Blackberry Lime Smoothie Bowl

  • Frozen banana
  • Frozen blackberries
  • Spinach
  • Agave nectar
  • Lime juice
  • Vegan vanilla yogurt

Topped with blackberries, coconut flakes, and lime zest

Topping Ideas for Smoothie Bowls

The toppings you can add to a smoothie bowl are endless! Here’s some ideas:

  • Chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans, macadamia nuts, etc)
  • Granola
  • Fresh or frozen fruit
  • Chia seeds
  • Hemp seeds
  • Flax seeds
  • Bee pollen (if not vegan)
  • Honey (if not vegan, can substitute with agave)
  • Cacao nibs
  • Unsweetened coconut flakes (can toast as well)
  • Nut butter (peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, etc)

  • 2 Tablespoons vegan vanilla yogurt I used Kite Hill brand
  • 1 frozen banana cut into slices
  • 1/2 orange peeled
  • 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower florets
  • orange slices, bee pollen, coconut flakes toppings (all optional)

Pina Colada Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 frozen banana cut into slices
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 2 Tablespoons unsweetened coconut flakes
  • coconut flakes or toasted coconut, pineapple toppings (all optional)

Acai Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 frozen acai packet I used Sambazon brand
  • 1 frozen banana cut into slices
  • 1/2 apple sliced
  • strawberries, blueberries, banana slices, granola, honey toppings (all optional)

Green Mango Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 frozen banana cut into slices
  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • 1/2 cup spinach
  • 1/3 cup coconut water
  • chia seeds, coconut flakes, mango slices toppings (all optional)

Cherry Almond Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 frozen banana cut into slices
  • 1 cup frozen cherries
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 16 raw almonds
  • cherries, chocolate chunks, chopped almonds toppings (all optional)

Blackberry Lime Smoothie Bowl

  • 2 Tablespoons vegan vanilla yogurt I used Kite Hill brand
  • 1 frozen banana cut into slices
  • 1 cup frozen blackberries
  • 1/2 cup spinach
  • 1 teaspoon agave nectar
  • juice from 1 and a half limes
  • zest from 1 lime
  • blackberries, lime zest, coconut flakes toppings (all optional)

Strawberry Peach Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 frozen banana cut into slices
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen peaches
  • 1/4 cup almond milk

Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie Bowl

  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 Tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 Tablespoon peanut butter
  • 2 frozen bananas cut into slices
  • 3 medjool dates pitted

  • Run frozen acai packet under warm water until slightly thawed. Add to blender with banana and apple slices. Blend until smooth

  4. Yum! All of those sound fantastic. My smoothie game is quite boring these days. You just gave me loads of ideas to jazz my next one up… starting by making a bowl instead of a generic smoothie. I think my kiddos are going to be very happy net time I pull out the frozen berries 🙂

    Believe it or not I’ve never had a smoothie bowl before! I love starting the day with a smoothie, but I love the idea of being able to load the bowl up with fun additions like big chunks of fruit and nuts. Can’t wait to try these!
